India’s all-rounder Hardik Pandya was ruled out of the upcoming domestic series against Australia due to injury. The BCCI said in a media release that the 26-year-old was suffering from cramps in the lower part of the bench. All-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has been recalled in the ODI team instead of Pandya, while no replacement was made for the T20I team.
According to the media release, right-handed bowlers will undergo a power and conditioning training at the National Cricket Academy in Bangalore from next week. The medical team of the BCCI decided to give rest to the all-rounder and in the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru for strength and conditioning work for the lower part of his back. BCCI said in a statement, ” Pandya will start his strength work from next week.”
Pandya had earlier suffered a back injury during the Asia Cup match against Pakistan and had to be taken out of the ground. He missed the home series against the West Indies later.
In the meantime, Jadeja will hope to get the most out of this call-up – provided he has been selected in eleven – to present his case for the World Cup selection. In the one-day against the West Indies, the left-handed batsman played three ODIs against Australia. He was selected for the one-day series against New Zealand but failed to get the game.
